Do you hate to cook? Do you hate to think about what to cook? I do have a tip for this too. Eat fewer meals. I'll admit this one is new to me. This was my lent experiment this year. Prior to lent, I was eating 3 meals + 2 snacks. This was a lot of work. When I was considering what spiritual discipline to develop this year, fasting came to mind. I had some serious doubt that I could do this at all but guess what? I've been able to do it and God has been so gracious by lending me His strength to develop this discipline.
Monday through Friday, I only eat between a 4 hour window which means I fast for 20 hours. On the weekend I extend the window to 6 hours which means I fast for 18 hours (which means 2 small meals).
What I feel this experiment did was to help me focus less on food day to day. Because eating 5 times a day took a lot of time and thought. Reducing that freed up a lot of time which I could spend on other things.
Who knows? I may even continue this once Easter is over. Feel free to ask any questions about this more radical choice.
