A new attitude

Why aren't diets sustainable in the long run?  Because you miss certain foods.  You miss the taste, the comfort they bring and darn it, you want to eat what everyone else is.  What is a unhealthy chubby girl to do when she is on the journey to health (just over 2 years now)?

First of all, be grateful we live in the age of information.  No matter what regimen you follow, with a few clicks you have a ton of new foods to try.  Some very smart, motivated people have figured out creative hacks which means we don't have to recreate the wheel.  Some of these new foods can be appealing substitutes for your old favorites.

As your taste buds change, you gain new favorites.  Perhaps your old favorites don't taste quite as good as they once did especially when they pack on the pounds!  I would have never believed that I would have so many options as I do now.

Lastly, you want your life to look different even if it is hard to change.  When you do hard things and accomplish hard things, it becomes harder to let yourself take the easy way out.  When you have success in overcoming bad habits and personal flaws, you become more confident in other areas.  Your life gets better and even becomes more exciting with new challenges.  New habits form and your self control increases and that is very soul satisfying.

Tune in Friday, when I try and convince you that I can make eggs...taste just like macaroni & cheese!
